Of American origin, the tomato has found fertile soil in the province of Parma since the second half of the 1800s.
The museum, inside the Corte di Giarola in Collecchio, in a medieval-era agro-processing center, is organized into seven thematic sections
It starts with the story of history, with the arrival of the tomato in Europe in the 1500s and its subsequent spread, existing varieties, nutritional properties, and production areas.
It continues with the development of the processing industry and production technologies, with the reconstruction of a production line for tomato preserves made with 14 vintage machines.
Then it is the turn of the finished product and packaging, with the display of numerous original vintage cans and tubes, as well as the rich communication and promotion material.
To close, the development of the mechanical industry, the protagonists, factory work and the culture of 'Tomato World' with advertisements, quotes, paintings, sculptures and recipes.
