Museo della Pasta

Pasta has found its chosen home in Italy and has made its mark on gastronomy throughout the country.

In the 1800s, Barilla's business began in Parma, which contributed significantly to the birth of the Museum.

The visit begins with the grain of wheat with in-depth exploration of its characters and how it has been grown over time.
It continues with the section devoted to milling and the various types of mills: there is a real stone mill compared with a cylinder mill.

There is also a look at flours, bread, and baked goods.

One section is devoted to the homemade preparation of fresh pasta: there are curious collections of small household implements, including the very rich collection of “speronelle” or pasta wheels.

Industrial pasta production is documented by a perfectly restored mid-19th-century industrial pasta factory flanked by a nucleus of machines from an artisanal workshop in Emilia.

Models and films illustrate methods and technologies of modern production.

The journey concludes with a rich review of pasta communication and its role in food, gastronomy, art and culture.
