The Ducal Chapel of San Liborio, located within the Reggia di Colorno, is a magnificent example of 18th-century sacred architecture. Built between 1775 and 1777 by order of Duke Ferdinand of Bourbon, the chapel is dedicated to Saint Liborius, the patron saint of those suffering from kidney stones.
A masterpiece of art and spirituality
This chapel, designed by architect Ennemond Alexandre Petitot, stands out for its elegant neoclassical façade and richly decorated interior. The central hall is enhanced by fine frescoes and stucco work, with a dome painted by Domenico Muzzi depicting the Coronation of the Virgin.
The side chapels house paintings by renowned artists such as Laurent Pécheux, Pietro Melchiorre Ferrari, and Giuseppe Baldrighi. A particularly important feature is the organ built in 1792 by Giuseppe Serassi, which is still used today for concerts and musical events.
