Correggio 500: An extraordinary exhibition in Parma
In 2025, Parma celebrates the 500th anniversary of the completion of the frescoes of the dome of the Basilica of San Giovanni Evangelista, a masterpiece of the great Renaissance painter Antonio Allegri, known as Correggio. The exhibition "Correggio 500" offers a unique opportunity to immerse yourself in the art of the master, presenting his masterpieces in an innovative and engaging journey.
The heart of the exhibition is hosted in the Monastery of San Giovanni Evangelista, where a photographic installation by Lucio Rossi, entitled "Il cielo per un istante in terra", allows visitors to admire the frescoes of the dome from a privileged perspective. Thanks to this installation, it is possible to observe hidden details that often escape a more superficial observation.
Another fundamental stop of the exhibition is the Camera di San Paolo, enriched by a multimedia experience called "Hortus Conclusus 2.0". This narrative journey explores the history of the Monastery of San Paolo and the commissioning of the frescoes by Abbess Giovanna da Piacenza, allowing visitors to fully understand the historical and artistic context that inspired Correggio's work.

Opening hours:
Monastery of San Giovanni Evangelista: every day (except Tuesday) from 9:30 to 13:00 and from 15:00 to 18:00.
Camera di San Paolo: Monday-Friday, 9:30-18:00 (closed on Tuesday); Saturday and Sunday, 9:30-18:30.
Tickets: The single ticket costs €12, valid for both exhibition venues.

Correggio 500 features two substantial new features. The first is represented by the grandiose installation “Il Cielo per un istante in terra”, generated by the photographic project by Lucio Rossi. Who, inside the monumental Refectory of the monastery of San Giovanni. Lucio Rossi created the perfect photo plan of the entire dome, reproduced in the installation. Preceding Rossi’s exciting images is an introductory section of historical and artistic study, the entrance to the installation is part of the wider opportunity to discover one of the most important monuments of Parma, the Monastery of San Giovanni with its three grandiose cloisters and the monastic Library that preserves treasures unique in the world.
