Capital of the D.O.P. typical Ham and place where there are several companies of "ham and salami", as well as plant of food equipment companies. In Langhirano it is located the Museum of Ham and salami which is linked to the international festival of ham. Head quarters of the Southeast health disctrict; there are specialized services, an emergency medical service and a Green Cross. It has a sports center divided into soccer fields, tennis courts, gym and pool. Not far from the village there is the Castle of Torrechiara, manor of 1400, well preserved, with chapel and frescoed halls. Nearby there is also a Benedictine abbey of the '400 with frescoes of the' 600 and '700.
