From 1986 the Farnese Theater is the entrance to the National Gallery and it offers a unique spectacle in the world. It was built in 1617 according to the will of the Duke Ranuccio I Farnese. It was destroyed by bombs in May 1944 and it was rebuilt between 1956 and 1965, respecting the original theater.
