Fidenza Cathedral Museum

The Fidenza Cathedral Museum (Museo del Duomo di Fidenza) is one of the most interesting cultural attractions in the historic centre of Fidenza. Located next to the Cathedral of San Donnino, the museum preserves an important collection of religious art connected with the history of the Cathedral and the Diocese of Fidenza.

Opened in 1999, the museum is divided into two main sections. The first is housed inside the Bishop's Palace, where visitors can explore the Medieval Section and the Treasury of San Donnino. The second is located inside the Cathedral, in its northern women's gallery.

Among the most important works is the remarkable Madonna and Child Enthroned, dating from the late 12th century and attributed to Benedetto Antelami, the great sculptor and architect whose work is closely connected with Fidenza Cathedral.

The collection also includes the medieval Chalice of San Donnino, dating from the 12th–13th centuries, a gilded bronze dove-shaped aquamanile, paintings, sculptures, liturgical objects and other works documenting centuries of religious and artistic history.

A visit to the museum is an excellent opportunity to discover the story of San Donnino, the patron saint of Fidenza, and to better understand the extraordinary Romanesque heritage of the city.
