The Fragno Truffle Museum: A Journey into the Heart of Tradition
In the charming village of Fragno, in the municipality of Calestano (Parma), there is a one-of-a-kind museum: the Fragno Truffle Museum. Inaugurated in June 2024, this exhibition space is entirely dedicated to the black uncinato truffle, a product of excellence from the Baganza Valley, and is part of the circuit of Food Museums in the province of Parma.
An Immersive Journey through Nature and Tradition
The museum is located in the basement of the Calestano Town Hall, in a setting rich in history, as it once housed the ancient prisons of the town. The exhibition route is divided into six thematic sections, which accompany the visitor in the discovery of the truffle and its natural environment.
Visitors can delve into various aspects, including:
The link between truffles and the territory of Val Baganza
The botanical characteristics of this prized species
The research and collection techniques, carried out in symbiosis with truffle dogs
The gastronomic uses and traditions linked to this product
One of the most engaging elements of the museum is the area dedicated to truffle collection, where an immersive installation allows you to virtually enter the forest and discover the fascinating world of truffle hunters and their trusty dogs.
An Interactive Experience for Everyone
To make the visit even more engaging, the museum offers a "treasure hunt": at the entrance, a card is given with some clues that visitors must solve along the way. Those who manage to complete the game will be able to access special multimedia content at the end of the visit.
The Fragno Truffle Museum is not just an exhibition space, but a center for the valorization of a local excellence, which aims to spread the knowledge of a product as precious as it is fascinating.

The museum is open from May 1st to December 8th, on weekends and holidays, with the following opening hours:
