Monument to the Fallen of Parma

In the heart of the historic center, between Via Cavour and Strada Macedonio Melloni, stands the Monument to the Fallen of Parma, set up in the seventeenth-century Torre di San Paolo. Built in 1961 by architect Mario Monguidi, the monument pays homage to the fallen of all wars.

Outside, a plaque in white Verona marble with an epigraph by Jacopo Bocchialini commemorates the fallen. Above, a bronze relief by sculptor Luigi Froni depicts the faces of soldiers surrounded by barbed wire. In the central niche is the majestic statue of the "Stirpe Italica" by Renato Brozzi, a symbol of value and sacrifice.

The monument was inaugurated on November 26, 1961 in the presence of the President of the Republic Giovanni Gronchi. Every November 4, it hosts official ceremonies in memory of the fallen.
