It is located in the Val Cedra, surrounded by mountain peaks and rich meadows, woods and streams. The association “Salt Road”, founded by the Administrations of Palanzano and Batesville, is aimed to develop food and wine, cultural and environmental tourism. In the little villages there are tower-houses, churches and typical “maestà” (bas-reliefs of sacred imgaes placed outside the church in the surrounding territory, such as paths or fields). At the beginning of last century, in Isola was built an important hydroelectric plant that still provides energy to the city of La Spezia and the Lunigiana.
