A hidden village in the heart of the city
Borgo del Naviglio is one of the quietest and most fascinating streets of Parma in the historic center, still retaining the simple and popular atmosphere of the "old Parma", far from the tourist spotlight. Once crossed by the waters of the city canals, today it tells ancient stories through its courtyards, peeling walls and cast iron fountains.
L’Averta: the fountain of memory
One of the most curious and beloved stops in the village is the fountain called “l’Averta”, an ancient water column surrounded by a small green space. The name, in the Parma dialect, means "open" or "accessible", precisely because it was a public water point available to all. Even today, under a bare tree and next to an old bicycle, the Averta is a place of passage but also of memories for many people from Parma.
